SHU-MAI is a traditional independent seminar activity held annually in Masahiro Harada Laboratory of the School of Architecture at the Shibaura Institute of Technology. This exhibition, “TOKYO”, is the 137th in total. In the past, SHU-MAI was a seminar held entirely within the laboratory. Students of architecture (especially undergraduates) are limited to design assignments and competitions where their works are evaluated and discussed. Therefore, for SHU-MAI in this year, we decided to expand the member to undergraduate students, graduate students, and students from other universities, and to hold an exhibition in the hope that many people will come into contact with our works.

With the cooperation of architect Yoji Hayashi, co-chair of sembunno-ichi, we can hold “SHU-MAI Exhibition TOKYO” at S-TOKYO in Kodenmacho. Most members this year are from various areas more than in previous years. Therefore, we will express the theme “TOKYO”, the place where we gathered, in our products.

In addition, in order to introduce our activities to people who do not usually have the opportunity to come into contact with architecture and art, we have invited Kazuaki Nagao, a talented bartender from Bar LIBRE Tokyo, to mix drinks with our products. Have fun with an unexperienced collaboration between the exhibition and the bartender.
